After the March 19th Park District Board meeting, the Lake Bluff Community Golf Association (LBCGA), a group of Lake Bluff residents concerned about the pending decision on the fate of the Lake Bluff Golf Club, remains focused on getting the board to delay the decision on the fate of the community golf club to at least March 2019. While we remain encouraged and saw that the board is aware of not only the large public support to keep the club open, but also the size and expertise of the LBCGA, we need to stay committed to working jointly with the board on a viable solution.
Our goal is to build a unique Lake Bluff Golf Club experience that offers the community and beyond a great place for golf and gathering, utilizing a responsible operating model with intents to be a profitable entity to reinvest in community programs. The only way to do this is to give us time to help with both short- and long- term solutions.
Progress since the Park District Board meeting:
- A core group of the LBCGA met on Wednesday night to organize, consolidate, and prepare the ideas and input from our group, ultimately to discuss with the board. In order to continue to gain credibility and organization, we created a Leadership Committee to interface with the board to include, Colette Asmussen, Mike Galeski, John Krzynowek, Dave Partington, Nick Papadakes, and Andy Johnson. This group discussed an agenda for the pending meeting with the board around 2 points: 1) What we need to know from the board & 2) what they need know from us. I will send out the agenda once I get a chance to type up the notes. We also plan to put together a bio sheet to give to the board. We will need everyone to take an active role once we better understand how the board intends to partner with the LBCGA and we have some defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). We plan to do this through sub-committees.
- Ron Salski did get back with me and we have a date to meet with the board, April 11 at 1 pm. We are allowed 2 people to meet with Ron, 2 board members, and 2 LBCGA members. We will be sending the board a general agenda of discussion topics, which I will provide to all of you once I type the notes up from the leadership committee meeting.
- Jennifer Beeler from the Friends of Lake Bluff Parks got back with me too. Once we have more solid direction with our fundraising needs and how we want to accomplish them (events, donations, etc.), they will set up a meeting of a couple of people from our Fundraising Committee once we set that up
We need to keep the noise and pressure up to show the board that we mean business and are committed to get this done right! I will post a brief statement about what we have been up to post board meeting. Several of you have shared links to article that support what we are trying to do. Please post those and others you find on the local social media groups that you are part of. Keep the ideas and energy coming! We are making progress.
