Hey LBCGA,
There have been some great comments by email today and great work over the last two weeks. I can’t wait to see everyone tomorrow night. There are a counter le of thoughts that keep running around my head (mostly taken from other LBCGA members):
1). Our work to date is amazing. Let’s be confident and proud and UNITED tomorrow. There is a movement within the community that can not be ignored. We merely represent the thoughts of others.
2). The course management is a disgrace. I went up there today to look around and collect my thoughts. The place is totally unloved. It is a golf course not a golf club. A passionate group could transform the feel of the place - for residents and visitors. That is us.
3). The team and resources we (Colette) have assembled is unrivaled. Our collective skills, experience and energy should be allowed to try and make this place a success for ourselves and future generations.
4). The board are human. Let’s ensure they know there are alternatives. Do thewe really have the stomach to make a decision this big based on biased and opaque reports from unconnected “experts” based on past performance? The board have to live in this community and live with the consequences of their decisions. Do they want to close the course? Let’s make it clear we want to work with them and help them. Not fight them.
5). The community deserves the chance to make this right. By volunteering, from fundraising, donating and supporting the facility. Maybe the lady I talked to yesterday will come through on her idea that $4M could be raised to save the course (like the library)
5). LET’S STICK TO OUR ASK. To be given 12-24 months to find an alternative answer - using the best talent available and involving the whole community. Others in the US have done it - why not Bluffers?
We won’t convince anyone tomorrow that they are wrong and we are right. Let’s be a support to the board that are unsure. I think it will be powerful if everyone tomorrow when we are untied in our words and sentiments.
